Jadchor Portfolio: Flash by Chorney
Wednesday January 3, 2008

What you are currently viewing is the flash navigation menu for the galleries found on jadchor portfolio; my portfolio website. I will, later down the road, change this into css for more compatibility with all viewers.

Glad you love it! I thought I'd better give you a reply to notify you that I altered and modified a few things, such as including the reflection at the bottom.

A smoother transition for each image would look better but I like the layout so far

How are you planning to do the transitions for each gallery? Sliding each option out to the left/right with the thumbs appearing on the option would be a nice effect

Transitions are one of the easiest things to do and can make a huge difference in a basic flash presentation and something that catches the eye more.

Using Flash 8 or greater gives you access to tons of great filters that makes it even easier for cool transitions.

Here is an example using the same images but using the adjust color filter instead to add more punch. (also got the file size down to 52kb even adding a preloader)

Here is the zip file with the fla/html/ect..

Also I wouldn't use the embed tag for putting your flash into HTML since it's not a valid tag anymore

SWFObject is one of the best ways to put flash into HTML IMO. The example I posted uses SWFobject and it is WC3 compliant
